At the Kenya Biodiversity Network event, our esteemed Executive Director was honored with an invitation to participate in a pivotal panel discussion. The focus of this forum was on “Exploring the Crucial Link Between Plastics and Climate Change.” This discussion brought to light the significant impact that plastic pollution has on climate change, a subject that is increasingly becoming a global environmental concern.
Our Executive Director contributed valuable insights, particularly emphasizing the instrumental role that African youth can play in shaping the global discourse and policies on plastics. The discussion delved into how the younger generation, with their innovative ideas and growing influence, can be key players in advocating for and shaping a global plastics treaty. This treaty is envisioned to address and mitigate the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on both local and global ecosystems.
The participation in the Kenya Biodiversity Network’s event not only underscored our organization’s commitment to environmental advocacy but also highlighted our dedication to empowering youth in environmental decision-making processes. It was a significant opportunity to place African perspectives at the forefront of international environmental policies, particularly concerning plastic use and its broader climatic implications.
